So, You Keep Getting Hacked?

So, You Keep Getting Hacked?

Which one was it this time?  Your Instagram?  Snap Chat?  Gmail?  Bank accounts?  Let me guess, you recently received notice that <insert brand here> had a little mishap and some data may have been compromised?  Or, your data got stolen during the OPM hack.  Or the Equifax hack.  Or the Yahoo hack.  Whatever it is, somehow, somewhere, your information was stolen.  P.S. if you want a really good listen to what hackers can do, listen to this episode from the podcast /Reply-All/.

But you say, I was using two-factor authentication!  I promise.  That’s great, it really is, but unfortunately in today’s world, that doesn’t mean you’re safe anymore.  I’ll talk about that in a bit.

Maybe you’re just sharing too much information on social media.

Maybe the hacker got lucky.  Probably not.

So let’s talk through a few different areas where I see people making mistakes.

Scenario 1

Girl on Instagram (not naming names here) posts on her Instagram stories that two of her accounts got hacked.  She goes on t1o say that many of her accounts all had some variation of the same password and she has no idea how she got hacked.  I didn’t ask her what that password was, nor did she share that information (smart), but I spent some time going back and forth with her, giving her tips of what to do.

The thing is, this is more common than it should be, but it seems like most people are too worried or nervous to talk about it, same as in the commercial world (think about all these big box stores or companies that take months if not longer to come out about a compromise).  How do we change this?  Well one, it’s not a death sentence if you’re hacked, and two, it’s not something you should be embarrassed about.  Hackers are getting better, and we’re all sharing more information on the internet than ever before.

If you’re an influencer or are aspiring to be an influencer, you’re probably posting a lot.  Well, what are you posting about?  Pictures of where you live?  Places you frequent?  Your family?  Throwbacks from high school?  Embarrassing stories?  Now take a second to think about how compiling all that information could paint a pretty substantial file on you.  Look through the last few weeks or month of your Instagram posts and stories, your blog posts, your Facebook.. Now think about it from an outsider’s point of view.  If you were someone else looking into your life from the outside, what kind of story are you telling?  Do your pictures have any sensitive information (address, delivery boxes, favorite coffee shops, and don’t laugh, I’ve seen it all)?  You might ask how your favorite coffee shop could be considered sensitive.  Well, if you go there every Saturday morning at 11am, and then again every Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, you’re setting a pattern for yourself.  All I have to do is set up shop an hour before you get there and look busy.  Then I can use a multitude of tools in an attempt to hi-jack your information, or I could just strike up a conversation with you based on the information I already have.  You say you don’t talk to strangers?  Well what if I know your favorite obscure band or sports team and I happen to have that shirt on?  You’re probably going to be more inclined to at least have a short conversation with me now aren’t you?

Scenario 2

Now let’s think about those security questions we’ve answered again and again when we set up an account so if we lose our password we can still get in.  What city were you born in?  What was your first pet’s name?  What was your first car?  What is your mother’s maiden name?  What is your paternal grandfather’s first name?  What is your best friends first name?  What is your favorite color?  What is your favorite food?

Now remember when the quarantine started and everyone was posting quizzes on Facebook and Instagram?  Let’s take a second and think about what kind of questions they were asking.

I’ll give you a couple minutes.

Now what kind of information are we seeing here?  They are a lot of the same questions, aren’t they?

How many times did you see something like this go around? Well, I’m glad that at least went somewhat viral because it’s true.  Yes, of course that isn’t a real quiz, they’re just making light of the fact many of these quizzes are indeed allowing the bad guy to learn a lot of information about you.

I’ve talked a little about phishing and social engineering, both here and on the podcast, but it’s worth repeating.  People share a lot of information about themselves on the internet.  We all have a desire to be liked, to be respected, to fit in.  Social media makes that a lot easier, but it also raises the risk of what information people can use when they are targeting someone or something.  You can change your privacy settings to avoid public posts, but what happens when you get a new friend request from an attractive individual you may or may not have met at the bar last weekend?  Do you blindly accept it?  This is another way that attackers are able to bypass the “friends only” settings.  Again, we all want to be liked and to have friends.  It’s not a bad thing, as long as we recognize it as a potential bias or flaw at times.

Scenario 3

Sometimes I join random groups on Facebook so I can get an idea of what the non-tech world is doing. Sometime last week someone posted this in one of those groups:

My first reaction was confusion, then a little bit of shock, then a lot more confusion.  Maybe it’s a generational thing, but then again I’m not that old and I still can’t get behind TikTok either.  Or maybe I’m just paranoid because I work in cybersecurity.

By the end of the day I think there were over 100 comments on this, many of them showing pictures that they’ve airdropped to strangers in Target, or have received themselves, waiting in line at the grocery store or walking through the airport.  What?!  Airdrop is really handy at times, I get it.  I’ve used it a handful of times, but my airdrop is usually turned off, and when it’s on, I have it so only contacts can send to me.  I also don’t have many contacts, so it might as well be off 😉

I then did a quick google search of airdrop attacks, I’m talking two minutes total here.  There’s this one from December 2019 where hackers can block iPhones and iPads via Airdrop attacks.  There was this one in August of 2019 that would show your phone number and passwords to malicious third parties.  Oh and don’t forget, you can also hide malware inside images using an old technique known as steganography

Can we see why hacking might be occurring more and more?

Here’s an experiment, influencer or not.  Look back at the last few months of your posts across your most used social media outlet.  Or even better, look back to your first Facebook or Instagram pictures and posts.  What kind of information are you finding?

How about some potential good news.  In 2016, Norton released a report where they surveyed 21,000 people in 21 countries.  According to this report, 76% reported sharing passwords and engaging in risky behaviors despite knowing they need to actively protect themselves; 44% said they felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information they’re responsible to safeguard (raises hand, guilty); and 35% have at least one unprotected device.  Does it get better with the more recent 2019 report?  Depends on how you define this word “better”.  A little over 10,000 individuals from 10 countries were polled, with 66% saying they have chosen not to download an app or use a service based on its privacy policy (good!); 84% reporting taking at least one step to protect their online activities; 60% saying it is impossible to protect their privacy or that it is too late to do so because their information is already out there; and 66% that are worried their identity will be stolen.

There’s still a lot to do, we are seeing a little progress between 2016 and now, but we can see there is still a lot of fear out there.  The 84% that reported taking steps to protecting their online activities is huge, but it was also reported that these were very basic activities such as clearing cookies or limiting information shared online, not using VPNs, using anonymous payment methods, or even going so far as to delete social media accounts.  Progress is progress though.  Little by little I hope people will start to see they don’t have to lock down their entire lives, but they can take steps to make it more secure at least.

Do you want help in securing things?  Let me know, I can try and help out.

Having a recovery firm like Darkrecoveryhacks recovery firm whose priority is helping victims of scam does a world of good, I was defrauded $110000 investing into cryptocurrency by a cryptocurrency mining platform online. It all started when I received a message on Instagram by a cryptocurrency mining platform online showing my mined cryptocurrency balance, intrigued by the opportunity of making more money from the comforts of my home. I joined not knowing it was my doom trusting the wrong person, they were never able to explain why I couldn’t make withdrawals from investment funds but kept demanding for more funds before I could access my investment funds. I needed the incredible assistance of DARKRECOVERYHACKS recovery firm in lost funds recovery to recover my funds, they are capable experts and can equally do the same for you out there searching for LEGITIMATE RECOVERY FIRM. I couldn’t talk to no one about it after these investors left me handicapped by taking my $90,500, stopping me from withdrawing my hard earned money. My search for redemption began after a very close associate of mine told me about Backend Recovery Specialists and I saw a lot of reviews and testimonies about them. Finally! I reached out and to my greatest surprise what I thought was impossible became possible and mind blowing. I will forever share their good work cause they saved me at a time I needed it most. You can contact them through (Email: BACKENDRECOVER at RESCUETEAM dot COM)

The Bitcoin Scam and My Redemption

I was an average high – school student, focused on my studies and looking forward to a normal future. Then, my history teacher, Mr. Thompson, changed everything. He was always a bit of an out – of – the – box thinker, constantly bringing up new and exciting ideas in class. One day, he started talking about Bitcoin. Mr. Thompson described Bitcoin as the future of money, a digital currency that was going to revolutionize the financial world. He showed us how early investors had become millionaires, and he painted a picture of a new era where we could all be part of something big. I was immediately intrigued. Here was a chance to be part of a technological revolution and potentially make some money on the side. Mr. Thompson told us that he had found a great opportunity to invest in Bitcoin. There was a new platform that promised high returns in a short period. He was so convinced of its legitimacy that he was going to invest himself and invited us students to join. I was hesitant at first, but seeing Mr. Thompson’s enthusiasm and trust in the project, I decided to take the plunge. I used my savings from my summer job, thinking it was a smart investment.
We followed Mr.Thompson’s instructions and transferred our Bitcoin to the address provided by the so – called investment platform. At first, everything seemed to be going well. The platform showed that our investments were growing steadily, and we were excited to see our money multiplying.
But then, one day, the unthinkable happened. The platform disappeared. All the links were broken, and there was no way to contact the people behind it. Mr. Thompson and I were in a state of shock. We realized that we had been scammed. I felt sick to my stomach. All my hard – earned money was gone, and I had no idea what to do next. Mr. Thompson was equally devastated. He had not only lost his own money but also felt responsible for leading us students into this mess.In my desperation, I started scouring the internet for solutions. I was looking for any way to recover my lost Bitcoin. That’s when I came across Nakamotoguard. Their website was filled with stories of people who had been scammed in the cryptocurrency world and had their funds recovered by the team.
I was skeptical at first. After all, I had already been burned once. But I had no other options, so I decided to reach out to them.on Gmail @ nakamotoguard@gmail.com OR // TELEGRAM @NakamotoguardHQI filled out a detailed form on their website, explaining what had happened to me. Within hours, I received a response from one of their experts. They assured me that they would do everything in their power to recover my coins. The team at Nakamotoguard got to work immediately. They started by analyzing the blockchain transactions. They traced the movement of my Bitcoin from my wallet to the scammers’ wallets. It was a complex process, as the scammers had tried to hide their tracks by using multiple wallets and mixing services.
But the experts at Nakamotoguard were relentless. They used advanced forensic tools and their in – depth knowledge of the cryptocurrency ecosystem to follow the money trail. They also worked closely with law enforcement agencies and other blockchain security firms to gather more information.
Over the next few weeks, I was constantly updated on their progress. It was nerve – wracking, not knowing if they would be able to succeed. But they kept pushing forward. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they informed me that they had successfully located a significant portion of my lost Bitcoin. When I received the news that my Bitcoin had been recovered, I was overjoyed. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I couldn’t believe that there were still honest and capable people in the world who could help me in my time of need.
Mr. Thompson was also extremely grateful. He realized that he had made a huge mistake by not doing proper due diligence before recommending the investment. But thanks to Nakamotoguard, we were both able to get some of our money back. This whole experience was a valuable lesson for me. It taught me to be more cautious when it comes to investments, especially in the volatile world of cryptocurrency. And I will always be grateful to Nakamotoguard for their professionalism, expertise, and determination in helping me recover my lost coins.

Every day after the scam unraveled, I woke up with the weight of regret. Not just because I had lost over 1million USDT, but because I had trusted people who preyed on my good intentions and financial hopes. The platform had been so convincing—so calculated. From responsive support to smooth onboarding, it was all designed to build trust, only to rip everything away once I had made my biggest investment.

It wasn’t just about the money—it was about betrayal.

For weeks, I isolated myself, ashamed to talk about what had happened. Most people around me wouldn’t have understood. To the outside world, I looked like someone who had simply made a bad investment decision. But inside, I was tormented. I kept replaying every step, asking myself, “How didn’t I see this coming?”

In the midst of this storm, I finally found a spark of hope: a thread online where someone mentioned S I L V E R C R A C K X R E C O V E R Y F I R M. At first, I scrolled past it. I had seen too many fake recovery offers and didn’t want to be scammed again. But something about this particular comment made me pause. It sounded real—raw, like someone else had been where I was and had truly found a way out.

That night, I decided to take the chance. I contacted them through S I L V E R C R A C K X @gmail.com, laying out the entire story in one long, emotional email. To my surprise, they responded quickly—kindly—and didn’t try to rush me or sell me a dream. They simply asked for all the necessary details and told me what to expect.

What followed was the first time in months I felt a sense of control again.

They began tracing my funds, explaining in simple terms how my transactions had been routed and where they were likely being held. Within three days, they recovered every cent of my principal and safely returned it to my wallet. No promises of exaggerated profits—just my money, back where it belonged.

It was surreal.

This journey changed me. I now understand how sophisticated online scams have become. These aren’t random emails or obvious phishing links—they’re professionally run operations built to look as real as any legitimate platform.

So here’s what I want you to know:

If you’ve been scammed—whether through binary trading, fake crypto investments, or anything similar—you’re not alone. And more importantly, you’re not powerless.

Please, if you’re in that place I was in—confused, angry, hopeless—reach out to S I L V E R C R A C K X R E C O V E R Y F I R M. Their expertise, honesty, and dedication made a way for me when I thought there was none.

Don’t let the scammers write the final chapter of your story. There is a way forward—and I’m living proof that recovery is possible.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be here today!!!! One of the most significant moments of my life was when I successfully recovered my lost Funds from the company I had invested with which took away my hard earned funds. This achievement was possible because I had the expert assistance of COREASSETINC RECOVERY FIRM by my side throughout the recovery process. I must admit, finding the right hacker to work with after the incident was not easy, but in the end, I consider myself lucky because, as the saying goes, “there is light at the end of the tunnel if you believe.” And I believed, which ultimately led to the recovery of what was rightfully mine. Gradually, I gained confidence in their services after reading about how helpful they are in recovering funds online. Prior to contacting COREASSETINC RECOVERY FIRM , I had lost over $500,000k to fake recovery agents who claimed to be experts in the field. However, during our collaboration with COREASSETINC RECOVERY FIRM, we discovered that these fake recovery agents were merely website programmers who exploited their limited knowledge of the digital space to take advantage of people who had previously been scammed. We also uncovered that they had created numerous scam investment websites to defraud unsuspecting individuals. Involving COREASSETINC RECOVERY FIRM in my case was the best decision I made, as I couldn’t bear the thought of living with the trauma of being scammed by two different syndicates. My perspective on things I see online has drastically changed after falling victim to multiple scams. Fortunately, we now have a solution to these recurring issues. Sending a detailed email to *COREASSETTINC at GMAIL DOT COM will undoubtedly change your story for the better. While there may be other self-proclaimed recovery agents out there, there is none quite like COREASSETINC RECOVERY FIRM. Their exceptional service and outstanding results set them apart from the rest. If you are unable to reach them via email, there is an even better option: you can find them on Telegram at @ COREASSETINC. They are active on both platforms, so don’t hesitate to seek their assistance.

I recently had the privilege of using the services of (BACKENDRECOVER AT RESCUETEAM DOT COM) to recover my lost $54,000 funds from an online investment, and I must say that my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. From the outset, their professionalism, expertise, and dedication stood out, and their assistance proved invaluable in resolving my financial predicament. At first I never wanted to go down the process of fund recovery but had no option but to have my hard earned money recovered for me.

It started like most modern investment journeys — with a compelling advertisement on social media. A company claiming to revolutionize the renewable energy market was offering what seemed to be an exclusive opportunity to early investors. They had sleek branding, polished videos, and a strong online presence. Their representatives spoke confidently about green innovation, upcoming partnerships, and projected returns. I did my own surface-level research, and everything seemed legitimate. After all, in today’s world, many successful ventures begin online. So, with cautious optimism, I decided to take a leap of faith. Over the course of a few weeks, I invested close to $67000 of my savings into what I believed was a cause I could stand behind and profit from. At first, things looked promising. I received regular emails, detailed investment reports, and even occasional phone check-ins from their so-called advisors. They were smooth — very convincing. But deep down, something started to feel off. Updates became sporadic. Their phone lines would go dead for days. Then the website began redirecting to error pages. And just like that — silence.
My heart sank.
I felt sick realizing what had happened. I tried calling, emailing, even reaching out to supposed “community investors” on forums. No one responded. That was the moment the shock wore off and the truth hit me: I had been scammed. Not only was it a massive financial loss, but it was deeply personal. This money had taken me years to save — a mix of inheritance, bonuses, and disciplined budgeting. It wasn’t just money; it was security, trust, and my future. For days, I could barely sleep. I kept replaying my decisions, wondering where I went wrong. That’s when, during one of many sleepless nights browsing recovery options, I stumbled upon DARKRECOVERYHACKS RECOVERY CORP. I hesitated at first — naturally skeptical after what I had just gone through. But what struck me was how transparent they were. They didn’t promise miracles. They didn’t use emotional manipulation. Instead, they walked me through the process, explained the risks, and let me decide. Something about their professionalism gave me hope. So I submitted my case, shared every document, email, and transaction proof I had. Their team wasted no time. Within a few days, they had already traced some of the scammer’s activities through blockchain analysis and digital forensics. They worked discreetly to avoid alerting the fraudsters. It was like watching a movie unfold — but this time, I wasn’t the victim. I was being helped. Weeks passed, and slowly, pieces began to fall into place. DARKRECOVERYHACKS worked tirelessly — even when I was losing faith. And then, out of nowhere, they called with news I never thought I’d hear: a significant portion of my funds had been located and was being processed for return. I cried. Not just from relief, but from the overwhelming feeling that someone had fought for me — when I couldn’t fight anymore. Today, I’m still recovering emotionally and financially. I’m far more cautious, and I’ve become an advocate for digital literacy and fraud awareness. But one thing is certain: if it hadn’t been for DARKRECOVERYHACKS @ GMAIL . COM OR Telegram @ DARKRECOVERYHACKS I would’ve lost everything. They didn’t just retrieve my money — they restored my belief that justice, though rare, is still possible in this digital age.
